VALORISH Partners Meet in Trondheim to Review Progress and Plan Future Activities

The VALORISH consortium gathered on June 2nd and 3rd 2026, in Trondheim, Norway, for a two-day project meeting hosted by project partner SINTEF. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for partners to review recent progress, exchange technical knowledge, and coordinate the next steps towards sustainable solutions for the valorisation of fish processing by-products.

Throughout the meeting, partners presented the latest developments across the project's work packages, discussing recent achievements and aligning future activities. The collaborative discussions helped refine the work plan for the coming months as the project continues advancing its circular biorefinery approach.

A particular focus was placed on the work led by SINTEF, which plays a key role in optimising fermentation-based processes for the production of high-value bio-based compounds. Using fish protein hydrolysates as a substrate, the team is developing sustainable production pathways for compounds such as vitamin B12, astaxanthin and bacteriocins, demonstrating the potential of fish processing side streams as valuable resources for the bioeconomy.

As VALORISH moves forward, the project remains committed to demonstrating how fish processing side streams can be transformed into high-value products through innovative circular biorefinery technologies, contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient European bioeconomy.
